In the remote world, we are seeing agents move between states more frequently. Agents are advised through the course of becoming licensed that their resident state license must be changed if they move from one state to another. Please advise agents to follow this process when moving states:

  • They must first move, then notify their former resident state dept of insurance of the move within 30-days.

  • They should confirm with their new resident state if they'll need a letter of certification or clearance from their previous resident state to apply for their new resident state license.

  • If not, they can apply for their new resident state the same day they apply for clearance from the previous state which can expedite the process. One agent completed the entire process in under a day with this approach.

  • Once they have what they need, they can surrender their previous state resident license.

  • When applying for their new resident license they'll also need proof of residency such as a new driver's license in their new resident state or, proof of residency another way such as name on home power bill etc.

  • The previous resident state will recommend the agent submit a non-resident license for their previous state and the CXP Licensing team recommends the same to avoid future issues with carrier contracting.

  • The process can take a couple of weeks depending how quickly the agent works on making the updates and/or which State DOI they're working with.

  • Once the previous resident state license is surrendered, immediately notify the licensing team at slc.licensing@connexionpoint.com and cease solicitation until the new resident license is active and reflects as such within NIPR.

Notify HR to enter the agent for LOA for one week. Let the agent know they are being placed on LOA and encourage the agent to complete in under a week. Keep HR updated if it takes longer and the LOA needs to be extended.
